Context with Confcommercia
Yesterday (5th October 2026), I attended a meeting at Confcommercio (Italian). I sought an amicable solution with the company that, after 42 years, terminated my contract with only three months’ notice and without giving any reason. Consequently, the aim was to discuss a fair resolution.
During the discussion, I explained the impact of the sudden termination. I hope the company will respond promptly and transparently. Any resolution would help preserve trust between parties and protect livelihoods.
This morning I reflected on the meeting.
Under the current Italian law, there is no legal distinction between agents operating in foreign markets and those operating domestically.
More importantly, both categories operate on different time frames with distinct personal financial commitments.
I also find it unacceptable that a company with little export investment in agent markets can possess the agent’s clients. Moreover, are we mad? Because of the legal injustices mentioned above, I have decided to fight in Italy for a law change for Confcommercia. It should ensure true equality for all and not for the few. Such a fight is so important to me that I have planned to even take it to foreign lands.
My first step will be to publish, in Italian and English, the report that I wrote for the Confcommercio. It is not covered by copyright, so please feel free to pass it on to others.
